Title: Republican nominee for Buncombe County Sheriff · retired U.S. Navy officer · former DoD contractor · former Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office In this role since: — Current term ends: — Next voter decision: Nov 3, 2026: challenging Sheriff Quentin Miller; won the March 3 GOP primary ~75% over Vic Morman (WLOS) · Election 2026
Surveillance record
No public position found on the Fusus network, Flock, plate readers, or the county’s ~2,000-camera system (as of Aug 17, 2026), despite having worked inside the department that runs it.
Why his silence matters more than most
Whoever wins this race inherits the region’s largest surveillance network with essentially no external constraints: Miller’s ICE-limiting commitments are personal policy, not law. Nationally, the strongest anti-surveillance politics of 2026 has come from Republican-led communities: Macon County’s GOP organized the removal of its Flock cameras an hour west of here (WNC and NC). Whether Parris follows that current or runs on expanding the network is, as of now, completely unknown.
The question for him
Would he keep, expand, or cut the Fusus network? Publish its audit logs? Maintain the school-camera integration? See Election 2026.
